What is cloud chasing?
“Chasing nuage” or literally in French, cloud chasing, is a fairly simple concept, as it involves exhaling large vapor clouds with an electronic cigarette. It is essentially competitive vaping, as people often compete to see who can be the master of cumulonimbus vaping.
Cloud chasing, of course, has evolved from the vaping culture. Some sources claim it started on the West Coast of the United States, although its exact origin is unknown. What is certain is that a small group of vapers was looking for more from their electronic cigarettes.

Given the growing popularity of cloud chasing, the inventor of the e-cigarette, Hon Lik, stated:
“When car manufacturers started, they didn’t think about a sport called Formula 1. There are always groups of people looking for excitement.”

Why do people chase clouds?
Many vapers around the world have embraced cloud chasing as a more exciting option for vaping. Some prefer to do it with friends in their free time and challenge each other to blow increasingly larger clouds. However, there are some vapers who take cloud chasing more seriously by participating in actual competitions.
In high-level competitions, vapers often get creative. One of the most common cloud chasing techniques is called “The Dragon” and can be performed by exhaling simultaneously through the nose and the sides of the mouth. Another trick, often referred to as “Pushing The O,” involves blowing vapor rings that can then be manipulated with your hands, while blowing additional vapor rings.
What if I want to start?
Modifying to build these clouds can often be quite complicated and involve playing with the wattage and resistance of your vape. This can lead you into the world of sub-ohm vaping.
Sub-ohm vaping means vaping with a low-resistance atomizer (less than 1 ohm). The difference with these durable accessories is that more power can then be used to heat your e-liquid. A greater amount of heat is spread over a much larger surface area, producing bigger clouds!
To do this, you can either build your own atomizer for this purpose or buy a ready-to-use one. But be careful, sub-ohm vaping is not recommended for beginners and should only be performed by experienced vapers who understand Ohm’s law, especially when it comes to rebuildable vapes. On the other hand, with a “classic” vape, it is easier to change the ohm value of the resistances, as it is usually indicated on the resistance itself.
Is there an easier way?
You still want to blow big clouds of vapor, but far from the idea of toiling over big equipment. With a good vaping device, it is quite possible to create sufficiently thick clouds.
For this, your choice of e-liquid can significantly affect the size of your clouds. The simplest way to start chasing these clouds is to choose a liquid with a high percentage of vegetable glycerin (VG) compared to PG (propylene glycol).
Vegetable glycerin produces more vapor; the higher the concentration, the better. However, make sure the rest of your setup is compatible, as some devices may not work well with large volumes of VG. Feel free to send us a message on our Facebook or contact us directly on our website.
