Have you lost your iPhone or has it been stolen? No problem! iOS 13 will find it offline too.

Apple has always provided a way to track a lost device with the Find My iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac app, with the most significant drawback being the device’s shutdown, which, if it is clearly stolen, would cause someone to lose track of the lost or stolen product. However, with the arrival of iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, Apple’s Find My iPhone platform is rebranded as “Find My,” allowing you to locate even the aforementioned products offline.
As I mentioned earlier, the new Find My app is available in the new iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, and it also integrates the “Find My Friends” app. This means you will be able to monitor not only all your active and inactive devices but also all the friends with whom you share your location on the maps.

To return to the initial presentation, the main feature this year is the ability to locate devices even when they are offline. This means that if you lose one of your Apple devices, you will still be able to locate it even if it is offline.
Locate a missing device even if it is not connected to WiFi or cellular data, using crowd-sourced location. When you mark your device as missing and another Apple user’s device is nearby, it can detect your device’s Bluetooth signal and report its location. It is completely anonymous and end-to-end encrypted, so everyone’s privacy is protected.
Essentially, your iPhone will send a silent and invisible Bluetooth signal to all the smartphones and devices it finds around it, triggering a chain reaction by detecting all nearby iPhones, iPads, and Macs, which pinpoint the exact location of the lost product. Each of your Apple devices emits a constantly changing key, which nearby Apple devices collect. Then, each device turns into a hub, and all the signals from adjacent devices bounce off each other until you find yours.
The only limitation of this fantastic feature, however, is inherent in owning a second Apple device from which to display your lost or stolen iPhone on the map.
HELP ONLY for iOS 13 and macOS Catalina or later
- Open the “Find My” app on any Apple device;
- Tap the “Devices” tab at the bottom;
- Then, search for your device on the map;
- Ultimately, you can play a sound to find the lost or stolen product, mark it as lost, completely erase the data, or simply find it by tracking it on the map.
I mean, was it about time Apple implemented such a feature? I would say yes!
